ChE 1013 Class Design Project 2005:

The Rube-Goldberg Competition

This year the freshman Chem-E class participated in the college-wide e-Week celebration by building Rube-Goldberg devices that:

Ø   Would open a bottle of IBC Root Beer

Ø   Using ten or more steps

Ø   Including at least one chemical reaction in combination with mechanical devices and other chemical changes

The students had two weeks to conduct experiments:

Construct the device:

And calibrate the steps:

The day of the competition there were large crowds:

But in the end, two of our teams came in 2^nd and 3^rd and won cash prizes!
