TALLGRASS PRAIRIE RESEARCH

STATION DEDICATION

May 20, 2004 was the official dedication of the $1.4 million research station in the Tallgrass Prairie Preserve. This joint venture between the University of Tulsa and the Oklahoma chapter of The Nature Conservancy will provide a 38,000 acre habitat for bison, and living research laboratory for numerous universities like the University of Tulsa.

"We now have, within a very special ecosystem, a building equipped to make research much more feasible and manageable," said Kerry Sublette, a TU chemical engineering professor who has conducted research in the Tallgrass Preserve since 1996.

The new Tallgrass Prairie Research Station houses two furnished classrooms, two stocked laboratories, a specimen and collection room, two offices and a conference room that also houses a library.

Dr. Kerry Sublette stands outside the Tallgrass Prairie Research Station. Dr. Sublette was the Principal Investigator on the grant which provided the funds for the construction of this 7,000 square foot building.
