Traditional areas include chemicals, petrochemicals, and petroleum, while emerging areas include environmental applications and design, semiconductor manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, pulp and paper, plastics, food engineering, and others. Many Chemical Engineers have their own consulting businesses, and many have gone on to law or medicine.
