CHEM 1011 General Chemistry Laboratory I

Catalog Description: Basic chemical laboratory techniques stressing experimental quantitative analysis.

Corequisites: Chem 1013

Textbook: Chemistry Experiments, First Semester. Keith Symcox, Version 5.2, RonJon Publishers, 2006.
Other Required Material: None
Course Objectives: To teach basic laboratory technique and familiarity with laboratory equipment while illustrating lecture concepts from Chem 1013.
Topics Covered: Density, physical properties of solutions, chemical reactivity, spectroscopic analysis, gas laws, thermochemistry and familiarity with Excel.
Class/Laboratory Schedule: Laboratory meets for one 2-hour and 50-minute session each week for 15 weeks.
Professional Component Contribution: This lab provides experimental experience in basic science.
