CHEM 1021 General Chemistry II Laboratory
Required course for ChE program
Catalog Description: A continuation of Chemistry 1011, including experimental qualitative analysis.
Prerequisites: Chem 1013, 1011.
Corequisites: Chem 1023
Prerequisites by Topic: Basic laboratory technique and familiarity with laboratory equipment.
Textbook: Chemistry Experiments, Second Semester version 3.1, Keith Symcox, RonJon Publishing, 2004
Other Required Material: None
Course Objectives: Continuation of process of familiarity with laboratory technique and equipment. Format is more open to work on time management issues in laboratory. Illustration of topics covered in Chemistry 1023.
Topics Covered: Acid/base chemistry, complex equilibrium, kinetics, qualitative analysis, usage of computer spreadsheets for analysis of data.
Class/Laboratory Schedule: Laboratory meets for one 2-hour and 50-minute session each week for 15 weeks.
Professional Component Contribution: This lab provides experimental experience in basic science.
