MATH 4503 Introduction to Numerical Methods
Option for Required Elective for ChE program

Catalog Description:  Error analysis of computer arithmetic. Solution of nonlinear equations. Roots of polynomials. Interpolation and approximation methods. Numerical differentiation and integration. Initial value problems for ordinary differential equations.

Prerequisites:  Math 2073, familirity with Mathematica, or consent of instructor.

Corequisites:  None

Prerequisites by Topic:  Three semesters of calculus.

Class/Laboratory Schedule:  Three times per week, 50 minutes per meeting

Professional Component Contribution:  This course provides three hours of college-level mathematics.
